Obituary of Lucy Ward Morris

Lucy W. Morris, friend to many and loved by more, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023, at the age of 96.  Lucy’s smile and ability to deeply connect with people endeared her to all who met her. 

Lucy W. Morris was born on March 8, 1927, to Hilda and Robinson Hetherington in Toronto, Canada. Her parents and brothers, John “Jack” Hetherington and Robinson “Bob” Hetherington Jr. moved to Camas, Washington where she grew up and became a naturalized US citizen. 

In 1947 Lucy married David H. Morris of Port Townsend, Washington who passed away in 1979.  They lived in Eugene from 1958 and raised their children, Mark Morris and Luanne (Morris) Pryor. She worked with her husband to run his Eugene Physical Therapy business.  She always had a smile and a joke, and surrounded herself with funny, engaging and interesting people. She loved helping others and wanted to do that to her last days.

Lucy is survived by her children Mark and Luanne, her daughter-in-law Gabriella Gardiol, and her grandchildren Colin Pryor, Kelsey Pryor, Santiago Marmol and Mateo Marmol.

An open house to celebrate the life of Lucy Morris will be held at The Springs on Friday November 24, 2023, from 11-3.
