Obituary of William Hugh Jennings

July 4, 1951 – October 4, 2023

William H. Jennings passed away peacefully in his Eugene home on October 4^th, 2023 after a battle with cancer.  William was born July 4^th, 1951 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Frank and Joyce Jennings.  He is survived by his wife, sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

William was raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and attended Washington High School before attending the University of Iowa from 1970-1973.  After graduating from the University of Iowa, William moved to Eugene, Oregon where he met his wife, Linda Loft.  The couple raised four children.  William worked as a computer programmer and as an IT manager for the Oregon State Judicial Department, upgrading computer systems across the state of Oregon. 

William was the ultimate family man who was always there for his children and grandchildren.  He was the life of the party, full of stories and jokes.  His laugh would light up the room in seconds.  William loved attending the Oregon Shakespeare festival, spending time with his family in Sunriver, Oregon and playing video games.  William’s favorite game was Dungeons and Dragons.  He studied astronomy and enjoyed following politics.  William was passionate about caring for his entire family including his cats and fish. William was funny, honest, smart, loving, and reliable.  He made the people around him better and he will be missed dearly. 

There will be a celebration of life for family and friends on November 12^th, 2023.
