Obituary of Cynthia Irene Nelson-Oglesby

Cynthia Nelson-Oglesby passed away on August 16th, 2023 after a long battle with COPD and low blood pressure.  Cindy was born on August 4th, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA to Gordon and Thelma Nelson.  Being brought up in a military family, Cindy's childhood found her living in Alabama, California, and Washington State.  This wanderlust transferred over into her adult life as well, where she lived in over seven states as well as in Hong Kong.
Cindy's professional life was also extremely diverse.  She worked at a residential treatment center for troubled youths, flew around the world several times while working as a flight attendant for Flying Tigers, and she finished her working life as a retail manager for Habitat for Humanity here in Eugene.  Cindy also liked to refer to herself as a farmerette in training, living the last 21 years of her life on the Lund Family farm 10 miles outside of Eugene.   Here, along with her boyfriend Gary's help, they grew apples, pears, tomatoes, corn and anything else they possibly could.
Cindy was an extremely giving person.  She is survived by a multitude of friends as well as her brother, Mick Nelson and her boyfriend of 25 years, Gary Lund.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be scheduled at a future date.  in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Habitat for Humanity.
