Obituary of Betty Joan Jensen

  Betty was born on July 13, 1943 to Joe and Leta Lebo in Aberdeen, Washington. She was their only child. Betty went to heaven on August 1, 2023 at the age of 80 due to medical complications associated with kidney failure.  Betty was surrounded by her family when she died. She is preceded in death by her parents Leta (1993), Joe (2008), and her first husband James Edlund (2008).  She is survived by her loving husband David Jensen and son, Stephen Edlund. 

  Betty grew up in Toledo, Oregon and attended high school there until her sophomore year. Her family moved to Oroville, California, due to her father’s job as a Forest Management Executive for Georgia Pacific Company.  She graduated from Oroville High School in 1961.  She continued her education in Eugene, Oregon where she met her first husband James in 1964.  They were married in Reno, Nevada in 1966 and had a son Stephen in 1968. They moved to Eugene in 1971.

  Betty started her banking career in San Rafael, California 1967. She was in banking for her entire professional career and became an Area Regional Manager for Far West Federal Bank in Eugene, Oregon. She retired as a Branch Manager for Key Bank in 2008.  Betty was a highly professional, knowledgeable, and caring person.  She influenced the lives of many people. Customers became friends and family.  She couldn’t go shopping or on vacation without being acknowledged by people she helped.

  Betty married David Jensen a high school classmate from Oroville in 2011 after meeting on a classmate website 2010.  Both had lost their spouses in the previous years.

  Betty enjoyed gardening, cooking, and the holidays.  She played the piano organ at home. She loved taking vacations to Hawaii and enjoyed rooting for the Ducks at Autzen Stadium for 32 years. Betty was a faithful member of the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church at 1300 Pearl St in Eugene, Oregon for 60 years.

  A viewing of Betty will be held at 11:00 AM and graveside service at 12:00 PM, on Thursday, August 17 at the Springfield Memorial Gardens, 7305 Main Street, Springfield, Oregon.  You are invited to sign the guest book at Musgroves.com.  There will also be a memorial service at St. Mary’s Church on Saturday, August 26 at 2 PM.
