Jack Carl Purington

December 16, 1931 – July 17, 2023

Jack Carl Purington 91, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 17^th, 2023 surrounded in love by his family.

Jack served in the Navy as a Petty Officer 3^rd Class Aviation Structural Mechanic.

He graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Linn Benton Community College.

Jack worked in forest products in purchasing for more than 60 years. He loved to talk about his memories of his work. Jack last worked for Champion International Corporation as the Western Region Materials Manager in Bonner, MT. He retired from Champion after 40 years of service.

Jack’s greatest joy in life was his relationship with Jesus Christ. He taught his family that integrity was everything. He faithfully served on the Deacon Board and in many other capacities for decades at North Valley Baptist Church in Redding, CA. Jack also served on the Deacon Boards at Emanual Baptist Church in Missoula, MT and Westside Baptist Church in Eugene, OR.

Jack married the love of his life, Dawn Darlene Butcher on May 12, 1955 in Reno, NV. Dawn was his one and only true love. They celebrated their 67^th wedding anniversary this year.

Jack will be missed by his wife, Dawn and his children; David (Tammy) Purington, Renee (Doug) Darling, Karen (John) Abel. As well as 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Inez Purington, Brothers Alan, Robert, John, Jimmy and Jody, and sisters Eva White, Aletha McDowell, Bonnie Graig, and Mary Miller, and great grandson Blake Smith.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 5^th, 2023 at Westside Baptist Church, 1375 Irving Road, Eugene, OR. A private family graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. at the Springfield Memorial Gardens in Springfield, OR.

To the world he was a wonderful husband and father, but to his family he was the world.
