
Obituary of Leo Conrad Bossert
Leo Conrad Bossert passed away on April 27th at the age of 96. He was born to Mathias and Margaret Bossert in 1926 in Karlsruhe, North Dakota. He grew up on a farm with eleven siblings. Leo liked to tell stories of those days and some of the mischievous things that he and his siblings did. He joined the Army near the end of WWII and served in the Philippines. After being discharged, he returned home and in 1949 married Irene Zerr, also of Karlsruhe. In 1954 Leo moved his family to Minot, ND taking a job to train as an auto refinisher. In 1964 he moved his family to Eugene, Oregon. He worked as an auto refinisher for A&M Body Shop for many years. After he semi-retired, he taught his trade at Lane Community College part time for a few years. Leo was a jack of all trades and could build or repair almost anything.
Leo belonged to the Eugene Eagles for decades. He was very active in the club and held many different offices throughout the years. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus at St. Paul Catholic Church and was a member of the VFW Post 293 in Eugene.
In 1991 Leo’s wife Irene passed away. In 1994 he married Kathy Stroud, who survives him. Leo is survived by his four children; Connie Williams (Jim) of Grants Pass, Oregon; Michelle King (Brad) of Junction City, Oregon; Todd Bossert (Ruth), of Battle Ground, Washington; and Lisa Beck of Newberg, Oregon; his granddaughter, Amy Touchstone (Joe) of Portland, Oregon and great grandson Noah Janss of Portland, Oregon. He is also survived by three of his sisters, Kay, Bea, and Theresa and many nieces and nephews.
Leo loved people and enjoyed life. He will be missed by all who loved him.
