Obituary of Phillip Glade O'Neil

On Friday the 31st of March 2023 our much loved husband, father and grandfather Phil O'Neil passed away.

Phil was born on May 12th 1938 in La Grande, Oregon. He spent his early years growing up in Oregon, Idaho and Northern California. He Graduated from Glendale High School in 1956, then served in the US Army from '57 to '59. On February 3rd, 1963 (on a dare) Phil married Sandra Nystrom of Eugene Oregon. They raised 3 children, Michael, Karen & Kimberly, born 1964, '67 & '69 Phil lived most of his adult life in the Eugene, Oregon area. He worked in the Plywood industry at Lane Plywood, Georgia Pacific, and many others over the years.

As a strong Christian, Phil always lived his faith. Giving much time to his church as a pastor, mentor and teacher. He was very generous helping others in any way he could, whether that meant picking up hitchhikers in the 1970's or opening up his home. Many times he and his wife gave a home to others, even taking in whole families.

He liked roadtrips to see family and friends. Driving big cars (with whitewalls of course), and working on his old truck. He greatly enjoyed attending Oregon Ducks football & basketball games with his kids and grandkids.

Phil spent his retirement years with his wife Sandy in Alvadore, Oregon. Enjoying taking more road trips and camping trips with his grandkids, who still talk of these great trips.

Survived by his Wife Sandra O'Neil, his children Michael O'Neil, Karen O'Neil, Kimberly Neely along with his grandchildren Justin, Alexander, Kirsten, Matthew, Steven, Linda, Johnathon, Seth, Ethan, Hannah, Abigail, Madison and 8 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday the 15th of April at Musgrove Family Mortuary, 225 S Danebo, Eugene Oregon and there will be a reception to follow at 2600 Wood St., Eugene, OR 97402
