Obituary of Judith M Klupenger
Judith Klupenger passed away March 23, 2023, after succumbing to cancer she had been bravely living with for the past 10 years. She was born July 6, 1940, to parents Aloysius Charles Klupenger and Grace Margery Klupenger (Jones). Judy lived a full life, always a hard worker and the main support for her family, and always a success at whatever she took on.
She joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves (USMCR) in 1958 and worked as a teletype operator. She attained the rank of Lance Corporal and was honorably discharged in 1960. She met Jerry Buckner while they were in the Marine Corps and married in 1961 (divorced in 1974). They had three children, Curtis Buckner currently residing in Gilbert, AZ, Juveen Buckner in Eugene, OR, and Neal Buckner in Olympia, WA. Jerry passed away 2011. The other love of her life was Irv Sherwood who passed away in 2021.
Judith attended Louisiana State University at Alexandria and earned an associate degree in nursing in 1974. She then worked as a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, OR, Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, WA and at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene OR for 18 years until she retired.
Judith was always volunteering for local groups. She was a cherished member of the Red Hats in Veneta, OR. Her faith was important to her so she was very involved in her church where she sang in the choir. She also hosted many gatherings in her home. She had a love for the outdoors as well and spent as much time as she could landscaping, gardening, and cultivating flowers. Her neighbors regarded her as a beloved member of their Songbrook community. She is fondly remembered for always helping others in need and riding her bike through the neighborhood with her favorite dog, Chatsi, in his little bike basket. Her list of friends is long and all who have shared their memories of her describe her as a loyal friend who was always there for them.
Judith is survived by two brothers, Bill Klupenger in Eugene, OR and Don Klupenger in Florence, OR. She is predeceased by her brother Charles Klupenger. Her grandchildren include Mariella Buckner, Logan Buckner, Johnathan Buckner and Grace Buckner and one great granddaughter, Vivienne.
The memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 8th at 1 PM in the Musgrove Family Mortuary Chapel located on 225 S. Danebo Ave, Eugene OR. 97402To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Judith Klupenger, please visit Tribute Store
