Obituary of Paul Thomas
Paul was born in Sweet Home Oregon to Marie and Ernie Thomas on January 15, 1943. He grew up in Elma, Washington and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1961. He had a younger brother, Bob, who died in March 2022 and his sister, Linda, who lives in Salem and has been a good support to him. He also had an older half brother, Ken Larsen, who was always special to him. The family traveled frequently to Arkansas and Paul has many much loved family living there.
After graduating from the University of Oregon, a proud member of Delta Tau Delta, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed on Artillery Hill, Pleiku, Viet Nam. There were many hard but also really good memories from this time and Paul was always most proud of his service to his country.
On returning to Oregon, Paul moved to Portland, Oregon where he met his future wife Julie. He worked in the insurance industry in Portland and then in Eugene. In 1990 he returned to school and followed his passion in learning, studying computers and eventually started his own company Computer House Calls. He loved the work and always felt that his clients became his friends!
Paul is survived by his wife of 52 years, Julie, his daughter Amy Janisch and her daughter Faith Janisch, and his son David and wife Carlee and their children Callen and Annalia . He is also survived by his many host students from the University of Oregon all of whom he considered part of the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Tunnels for Towers (https://t2t.org), an organization honoring the legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. The Foundation provides a mortgage-free home to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children.
