Obituary of Morales Chan
Morales Chan, a long-time resident of Eugene, Oregon, passed away on November 26, 2022 at the age of 67. She was predeceased by her father Arkfon. She is survived by her loving husband Kenneth, her children Andrew (Stephanie) Chan and Sarah (Joe) Hartnett, her grandchildren Lucas, Jane, Olivia, her mom Lin, and her siblings Phillip, Sze Wai, Margie and their families.
Morales grew up in Hong Kong where she met her husband Kenneth through a mutual friend before they moved to the United States and got married. After living in Bend, Oregon, they moved to Eugene, Oregon where they built a successful restaurant business as the owners of the Jade Palace Chinese Restaurant on W. 7th Ave.
Morales was the most selfless, caring and thoughtful human being you could ever encounter. In her 33 years owning and operating Jade Palace, she made every single customer feel like family with her radiant smile and extraordinarily kind demeanor. She enjoyed getting to know people and their families and always remembered their favorite dishes. Customers became friends and family, and she was so beloved by the community when she closed the restaurant and retired in 2017.
A devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister, she was the backbone of the family and ensured everyone was well cared for. She worked hard to support her family and made the American Dream a reality.
There will be an intimate celebration of life for her closest family and friends. Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. You can access the obituary and are invited to sign the guestbook at musgroves.com.
