Obituary of Glenn Edwin Johnson

Glenn Johnson passed away Monday, May 23, 2022 at 10:00 pm at the Age of 90. He was born to Bez and Flossie Johnson in Skidmore, Missouri. He was one of 5 children. The Johnson family moved to Independence, Oregon when he was a child. He graduated from the Independence High School in 1950. Go Cardinals! Glenn started working from the time he was 12 years old. He worked at Cravens Variety Store in Independence. Later he worked as a salesman in Corvallis at Einerson Wholesale candy and tobacco store, Mutual Produce, and Fircrest Foods. He retired from Fircrest Foods in 1993. Glenn married Joanne Kreta McDowell of Dallas, Oregon in 1951. They moved to Corvallis with their family and lived there until they moved to Blodgett, Oregon in 1971. Glenn enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, picnics, camping, hunting, water skiing, singing and watching the birds outside his window among other things. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them how to fish, giving them tractor rides or pulling their sleigh on the snow. He loved getting the garden ready for Grandma Joanne to plant for the season as he enjoyed all the good things she canned and prepared, especially her wonderful pies. Glenn was a Boy Scout and a devoted member of the Blodgett Community Church. We all called him Grandpa. He had so many great stories to tell, we remember him singing every time we visited. He was creative and resourceful and he was always working on some sort of project. He was funny and sometimes goofy. Grandpa was special to us and he always made sure we knew he loved us. He was full of joy and glowing. He was preceded in death by his parents Bez and Flossie, his 4 brothers, his wife Joanne and their son Dougie, He is survived by 5 of his children, Debbie Kinsey, Peggy DeGroot, Jodi Wygle ,Gregory Johnson, and Lori Lillie. 19 grand children and 39 great-grand children and 7 great-great grandchildren. We all loved grandpa very much and will dearly miss him, but will live forever in our memories and our hearts. WE LOVE YOU GRANDPA GLENN AND THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR LOVE AND KINDNESS
