Dan Blume Jr.

Obituary of Dan Blume Jr.

Dan was born in Wichita, Kansas to Mae and Fred Daniel Blume Sr. on September 16, 1927.  As a teenager, he was a WWII air raid warden for his block in Wichita.

His faith was always important to him.  He went to Catholic grade & high school. He graduated from the University of Wichita.

He served in the US Navy before meeting the love of his life Anna Marie Klenke.  In the early years of their marriage they lived in Kansas before moving to Oregon where they settled.

Dan and Anna Marie started a family right away and were blessed with 5 loving children.  Dan was very devout in his love for God.  He served St. Mary’s church in the Knights of Columbus, years of adoration chapel, many years as a reader and a Eucharistric minister.

Dan’s love for Anna Marie and his family are evident by Dan working hard to send his 5 children to Catholic schools.  Family getaways to the Oregon coast and fishing trips made him very happy.  Dan was  a witty and funny guy.  He liked to laugh and make people laugh.

Dan worked for the Eugene Register Guard Newspaper for 33 years as well as managing a few local movie theaters.  Dan a Anna Marie loved to travel to places throughout the United States, Hawaii, Europe, Mexico and a pilgrimage to Fatima, Lourdes and Medjugorje.  This month, on July 19th, would have been their 70th Wedding Anniversary.

Dan was a gentle and kind man who will be missed dearly by all of his family and friends.
