Obituary of Nancy Cushman Draper

Nancy Cushman (Harrington) Draper of Eugene and Springfield passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 30 at the age of 94.

She was born in Santa Monica, California to Rufus and Marilla Ryder Harrington.  She married Eugene Draper on September 5, 1947.  She graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles in 1945 and completed classes at the Fred Archer School of Photography in 1947.  She applied this training to photographing weddings with her husband Gene.

Nancy was a homemaker and tireless volunteer who gave her time generously to the Altadena Junior Women’s Club, her children’s school activities, and the Girl Scouts.  After she and Gene moved to Eugene in 1978 she volunteered at the Girl Scout Council and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.  She was an enthusiastic traveler and went on many trips both in the US and internationally in her roles with the Girl Scouts.  She and Gene also went on cruises with friends and enjoyed camping in their RV with family and friends.

Nancy loved making lifelong friends, spoiling her grandkids, sewing, baking Christmas cookies and genealogy.

Survivors include her two sons; Paul of Eugene and Alan of La Verne, CA; a daughter Janet Worthington of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at Lane Memorial Gardens on July 30, at 2:00.  Remembrances to Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington www.girlscoutsosw.org or World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts www.wagggs.org
