Our beloved son, brother and dearest friend Colton Kenneth Rice passed away in a tragic car accident on April 10, 2022.
Born September 23, 2003, in Eugene Oregon, Colton came into this world early and he left it far too soon, he was only 18 years old. He lived in Junction City and Monroe Oregon.
Colton’s laugh was infectious, when he smiled, he could light up a room. He had a passion for everything outdoors. He loved mudding, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his friends. Colton was deeply committed to his grandparents and their cattle ranch. Often Colton spent time feeding cattle, fixing fence, hauling feed, or driving a tractor to support his families’ passion of cattle.
Colton is survived by his parents, Skip and Kristine Rice, sister Madison Lisenby, grandparents Ken and Maria Lisenby, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” ~ Thomas Campbell
Colton’s body has moved on, but his memory will never leave us. He will always be alive in our memories, and our hearts.
Donations can be made to the National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving (NFTSD). Working on the community level, NFTSD builds alliances with businesses, government, law enforcement, schools, parents, and teens to prevent the kinds of tragedies like the one that took Colton’s life. We encourage you to have conversations with your teens and loved ones and share these tragic stories, like Colton’s, to help teens understand the risk they take when getting behind the wheel of a car.
A celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks for his family and friends.
