Obituary of Carol "David" Calder
We lost a good one!
Dad never entered a room without a smile and a chuckle. Early on his mom nicknamed him Sunny Boy and never called him anything else. Never was there a more perfect nickname. Dad was always full of sunshine.
Dad married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn, and was fiercely loyal and loving to her until the day she died. They moved the family from Texas and settled in Eugene where dad began his Diabetes practice. Dad loved being a doctor and caring for his patients. He was dedicated to patient education. He wanted his patients to understand their disease so they could best care for themselves. He worked long hours practicing medicine and then would head out to the barn to care for his cows, horses or chickens, but Dad never walked in the door complaining. Even at the end of a long day, he came in with a smile and a chuckle. Dad always said he and Mom were lucky, they had it good. Dad always ended every conversion with the words "Have fun", words he wanted all of us to live by. He is survived by his loving family - children, grandchildren and mama cat.
