Obituary of Herbert Pratt Wisner

Herb Wisner died a month short of his 100th birthday. He left this as his obituary:
"If you are reading this you can be sure that I won’t be the one answering the phone any more. Whoever does can provide basic information such as: Victor and Florence Wisner added me to the population of Perth Amboy, NJ, on March 24th, 1922, and old age removed me on February 20, 2022, in Eugene, OR. I don’t think a lot of details of my life need to go in here when it’s all included in my autobiography, My Life and Then Some, available on Amazon under my name. If you’re curious I encourage you to order a copy. My heirs will collect royalties (44 cents per copy). It will take a lot of sales to make them rich unless it gets a Pulitzer Prize. Unlikely!
My spirit will join that of my wife, Ruth, at the bench dedicated to her at the entrance to the wildflower garden at the Mount Pisgah Arboretum. Stop by for a chat if you’re in that neighborhood.
I want all my friends and family to know how much I have appreciated your part in my life. It provided much enrichment and enjoyment. Stay well and happy. ~ Herb"

But just a few more details: Herb and Ruth moved with their family to Eugene from Unadilla, NY, in 1966, when he joined the faculty of the biology department at the University of Oregon. Since then he has been a familiar face and voice to those in the community interested in natural history, and birds in particular.
Herb is survived by his children Linda Wisner of Portland, David Wisner of Gilbert, AZ, and Darryl Wisner of Eugene, grandchildren Nathaniel Wisner and Hannah Perez, and great grandson Maddox Wisner.
A memorial service is pending. Please donate any memorial gifts to Mount Pisgah Arboretum, Lane County Audubon, Eugene Natural History Society, or the YMCA.
Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary. Please access the obituary and you are invited to sign the guestbook at musgroves.com.
