Obituary of Robert W. Nelson

Robert (Bob) W. Nelson, a lifetime resident of Eugene, OR passed away on January 9, 2022 at the age of 79 after a yearlong battle with bone cancer. 

Bob earned a bachelor’s degree in Forestry from Oregon State and a master’s degree in Business from the University of Oregon. Bob started selling Real Estate in 1968 in his dad’s Real Estate business and later opened his own Real Estate office in 1971. He remained active until his passing. Bob also taught real estate courses at Lane Community College (LCC) for many years.   

Bob was steeped in 1031 tax deferred exchanges as well as commercial real estate. He made an abundance of friends in the industry and taught many investors how to successfully build a real estate portfolio through his classes at LCC.  

Bob was involved with the CCIM organization, Counselors of Real Estate and Rental Owners Association. Passionate about teaching Bob shared his knowledge about real estate and touched so many people. He spent his entire career helping others realize how to optimize their portfolios.

Bob is survived by his wife Rene’, daughter Tuesday Nelson of Portland, OR and son Buck Nelson of Eugene, OR and brother Eric Nelson of Santa Fe, NM.  

In lieu of flowers, Bob has requested donations be made to Cat Rescue & Adoption PO Box 72401, Springfield, OR 97475. 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. PST at Northwood Christian Church located at 2425 Harvest Lane, Springfield, OR 97477.  Masks will be required.  You can also attend via Zoom.  Go to live.northwoodchristian.org
