Obituary of Iva Hoffman

On Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, Iva Hoffman, at 104 years of age, passed from this earthbound life to life eternal.

Iva was born July 10, 1917 to Alfred E. & Laura Jorgenson in Loop City, Nebraska.  She was the eldest of three children.

Raised by parents who loved the Lord, Iva spent her girlhood on a farm close to Litchfield, Nebraska.

She was baptized at the Albion Church of Christ at age 12 with her sister and two cousins.

After completing high school, she moved to Sacramento in the 1930s, attending & graduating from Sacramento City College.

It was in Sacramento, where she met a dapper young man named Leo Hoffman while he was escorting her cousins and herself to the California State fair. They fell in love and married soon after.

Leo worked as a traffic manager for two truck lines leaving that occupation in 1944 to serve in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  In 1947, the family returned to the Rogue Valley, where he worked in the timber industry and managed the family ranch at Applegate.

She remembered attending the Grants Pass Church of Christ where her husband, Leo and two sons were baptized.

Iva lived in Nebraska, California, Vermont, Arkansas, Medford, and Eugene.

Iva loved people, books, the beauty of nature, & her Savior.

In reflecting on her life, she says that "I'm glad I always had a relationship with God and that I always have gone to church."

She confidently, “looked forward to the city which has foundations, & whose architect and builder is God.” (Heb 11:10)

She was proceeded in death by her husband Leo Hoffman and son & daughter-in-law, Dr. Steve & Lois Hoffman.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law Gen. Norman & Cindy Hoffman, plus seven grandchildren; Annemarie Hoffman, John (JR) Hoffman, Lindsey Hoffman, Rex & Irie Hoffman, Aubrey Hoffman, Ashley Hoffman, & Luis Hoffman.  She is also survived by six great grand-children.
