Obituary of Betty Russell

Betty Jo Russell was born in Fort Gibson, OK March 31, 1933 to Neely and Ollie Ringgold. She was one of six children.

Betty passed away at home on Saturday August 28, 2021 of natural causes. She went to join her husband Jimmy, who preceded her in death, to be with the Lord.

She was raised during the Great Depression working with her family in the cotton fields. She attended Chowchilla High School, where she met her husband. They were married on November 22, 1950 during her senior year, and Betty graduated in 1951.

Betty and Jimmy had four children: Dora Cundiff of Tollhouse, CA; J.C. Russell of Turner, OR; Judy Harwood of Prosser, WA; and Cindy Dagesse of Monroe, OR. They had six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Betty retired with her husband in 1984 on a 40 acre farm where the lived the past 37 years. Betty was a member of Church of Christ in Monroe and an active member of the community, including South Benton Lions Club, Monroe Enhancement Committee, and Monroe Seniors Group.

Along with her husband, she was recognized for outstanding service to her community and surrounding areas.

Betty was selfless in her love for family and a friend to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Burial services will be held on Friday September 10th at 1:00 at Alpine Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Thursday September 9th from 1:00 to 5:00 at Murphy Musgrove Funeral Home located at 480 W 7th Ave in Junction City.
