Obituary of Janice Claire Frawley

Janice "Jan" Claire (Plettner) Frawley, 86, of Eugene passed away on July 6, 2021.  She was born on October 14, 1934 (despite her birth certificate claiming it was the following day) to Lawrence and Vivian Plettner in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

She married Gerald James Frawley on Feb. 20, 1954, then raised a family of 5 children with him, while making a home in 4 different states -- Wisconsin (De Pere, Green Bay, Ashland, Appleton, Neenah), Michigan (Menominee), Oregon (Eugene), South Carolina (Florence) -- making friends across the country, and then settling in Eugene.

Jan loved spending time with her family and friends and traveling.  She also enjoyed many games and puzzles -- playing in bridge groups, working on jigsaw  (and other) puzzles with family and friends.  She was active in her church at St Jude in Eugene -- before the pandemic hit.  She also loved her time as a volunteer with the Sacred Heart Hospital Guild for the last 37 years -- maintaining / operating the hospital gift shops at both Eugene locations -- as well as serving as buyer and assistant buyer for a number of years.  She volunteered as a driver for hospice for a few years and also volunteered giving tax assistance for seniors.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Gerald "Jerry" Frawley, two sisters and their husbands Shirlee and Carl Steinbrecher and Dorothy "Dot" and John Kerwin, and one daughter-in-law Loretta Wilson Frawley (wife of her son James).

She is survived by her brother and his wife Lawrence "Larry" and Nancy Plettner, her five children:  James Frawley, Phoenix, AZ; Michael (Rachel) Frawley, Chapel Hill, NC; Gail (Rich) Gergasko, Denver, CO; Karen (Jeff) Moorhead, Beaverton, OR; Donald (Marie) Frawley, Alpharetta, GA; twelve  grandchildren/step-grandchildren: Lilly (Chris) Hammack; Rebecca (Izaak) Mendoza; Susan Frawley; Jennifer (Kyle) Floyd; Tiffany Leinassar; Lisa (Eric) Waterman; Rick (Donna) Gergasko; Matt (Lisa) Gergasko; Kimberly Moorhead; Christina (Anthony) Dominguez; Ryan Frawley; Kelli Frawley; as well as ten great grandchildren/step-great-grandchildren: Keane Hammack, Jackson Floyd, Camden Floyd, Daphne Floyd, Axel Floyd, Avery Vetere, Clara Vetere, Kaitlyn Waterman, Brayden Waterman, and Dylan Waterman.

Friends and family may pay their respects at a memorial service for Jan, which will be celebrated on October 16 at 10am at St. Jude Catholic Church, 4330 Willamette St, Eugene, OR 97405.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Cascade Health Solutions for their in-home support during the final week of Jan's life.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the hospital that she spent so much volunteer time with.  Heartfelt House is a facility that was significantly supported by the Guild that operates the Heartfelt Gifts shops.
