Obituary of Jerry Brown

Jerry was an avid Oregon Duck fan and only missed any of their games over this last couple of weeks, due to his illness. Early on, he drove truck, soon mastered photography, loved to play the guitar, (once on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry); was a proud member of the Oregon Ole Time Fiddler’s Association; no, didn’t get around to mastering the fiddle. Near the end, he was intent on learning to play a lap steel guitar, which I’ve no doubt he’d have mastered, too. He loved his dog John Doe, fishing and riding his Harley. Wasn’t a bad hunter, either. He also loved and studied his Bible pretty faithfully, making notes and comments as he went along.

Jerry ran his own Auto Repair business for many years before going to work as a Certified Master Mechanic and working for others up until poor health forced him to retire. He loved and led a full life, had a great sense of humor, which endeared others to him; and, he will be greatly missed.

Jerry leaves behind his wife Carolyn of 26 plus years, his four siblings, their families, his step children, and theirs, his grands and greats, along with his aunts, uncles and theirs. His very large family made for some great family reunions. As well as many longtime friends from his childhood to the present.

There will be a viewing at Lane Memorial Funeral Home, 5300 W. 11th in Eugene, on Thursday the 14th from 3:00-6:00, masking as well as social distancing will be practiced; a graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, the 15th, at 10:00, weather permitting. Restrictions due to COVID only permit up to 75. If moved inside due to the weather, only 25 can attend; then, there will be two services (10:00 and 12:00) and maybe a third, which would follow. Also, for those who can’t make it, a virtual service will be available without the ability to share. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Wounded Warriors Project.
