Gary Winters Gary Winters Gary Merle Winters of Eugene died Jan. 18 of complications from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma at age 70. No service is planned. He was born Jan. 23, 1939, in Joseph to Virgil and Joy Fine Winters. He married Betty Trump on June 10, 1961, in Lewiston, Idaho. He graduated from Lostine High School in 1957. He attended Eastern Oregon College and received a business degree from Lane Community College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He worked as a heavy-equipment operator. He began working at Eugene Water & Electric Board in 1964 and retired as construction supervisor in 1994. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Laurie Byerly of Dayton and Andrea Hartman of Eugene; a son, Derek of Eugene; three sisters, Verna Rhodes and Corliss Boner, both of Enterprise, and Linda LaRue of Ione; a brother, Gordon of Pendleton; a stepsister, Diane Snodderly of Lodi, Calif.; a stepbrother, Dale Bartmess of Hurricane, Utah; and four grandchildren.
