James JohnsonJames A. Johnson of Eugene died April 4 of age-related causes. He was 88. He was born May 30, 1921, in Duncan, Okla., to Carl and Lillie Coldwell Johnson. He married Betty Steel on April 27, 1947, in Los Angeles.He graduated from Duncan High School and Duncan Junior College in Oklahoma. He served in the Navy on the USS Maryland, USS Curtiss and USS Bladen during World War II. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Huntington Park, Calif., after 30 years.Survivors include his wife; and two brothers, Jack of San Clemente, Calif., and Joe of Elma, Wash.A private service was held at Lane Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.
