Nancy Carlisle Thomas Guenther

Nancy was born on October 2, 1926 in Centralia, Washington to Kenneth and Frances Carlisle. She attended school in Onalaska, Washington until moving to Eugene in 1942 where she graduated from Eugene High School in 1943.


Nancy was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and Phi Beta music honorary at U of O, graduating in 1947. She was an Employee for 20 years at Sacred Heart Medical Center, followed by full time homemaker. Nancy was an active member of First Baptist Church since 1977 and Bible Study Fellowship International.  She also served as Past president of Junior Service League, now Junior League of Eugene. Nancy was a member of “Do Nothing”, dear friends who meet once a month for lunch and have “done life” together for many decades.


Nancy married Morven C. Thomas March 19, 1949 in Eugene. Mo passed away February 16, 2007. They are survived by their daughter Janey Thomas Rose and husband Rodney Rose of West Linn, Oregon; son David Morven Thomas and wife Alice Thomas of Kihei, Maui; daughter Laura Thomas Pelayo and husband Kai Pelayo of Lahaina, Maui. Together they had three grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Nancy later married Lyle G. Guenther February 14, 2013. Lyle, his daughter, 3 sons and their spouses and families also survive her. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Jane Carlisle Moshofsky.


A Celebration of Life for Nancy is being held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, 3550 Fox Meadow Road, Eugene, Oregon 97408 beginning at 11:00 am.
